Quran Verses About Peace (السلام)

Peace (salam) is one of Allah's names and the greeting of Paradise. These verses reveal how to find inner peace through faith, remembrance, and trust in Allah.

Ar-Rad · 13:281/9

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ

Allazeena aamanoo wa tatma'innu quloobuhum bizikril laah; alaa bizikril laahi tatma'innul quloob

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.

The prescription for inner peace: remembrance of Allah (dhikr).

Ya-Sin · 36:582/9

سَلَٰمٌۭ قَوْلًۭا مِّن رَّبٍّۢ رَّحِيمٍۢ

Salaamun qawlam mir Rabbir Raheem

"Peace" - a word from a Merciful Lord.

In Paradise, the greeting from Allah Himself will be "Peace."

Al-Fath · 48:43/9

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Huwal lazeee anzalas sakeenata fee quloobil mu'mineena

It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers.

Sakinah - divine tranquility that Allah places directly in believers' hearts.

Yunus · 10:254/9

وَٱللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ

Wallaahu yad'ooo ilaa daaris salaami

And Allah invites to the Home of Peace.

Paradise is called Dar As-Salam - the Home of Peace. Allah invites us there.

Al-Anam · 6:1275/9

لَهُمْ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ

Lahum daarus salaami 'inda Rabbihim

For them will be the Home of Peace with their Lord.

The believers' ultimate destination - eternal peace with Allah.

Al-Qadr · 97:56/9

سَلَٰمٌ هِىَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ ٱلْفَجْرِ

Salaamun hiya hattaa mat la'il fajr

Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

Laylatul Qadr - the most peaceful night of the year, pure salam until Fajr.

Al-Waqiah · 56:267/9

إِلَّا قِيلًۭا سَلَٰمًۭا سَلَٰمًۭا

Illaa qeelan salaaman salaamaa

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

In Paradise, the only words heard are peace - no hurtful speech, no noise, only salam.

An-Nahl · 16:978/9

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ حَيَوٰةًۭ طَيِّبَةًۭ

Man 'amila saaliham min zakarin aw unsaa wa huwa mu'minun falanuhyiyannahoo hayaatan taiiyibatan

Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while being a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life.

Hayat Tayyibah - a peaceful, good life is promised to righteous believers in this world.

Al-Fajr · 89:279/9

يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

Yaaa ayyatuhan nafsul mutma 'innah

O reassured soul,

The highest state of the soul - mutma'innah - complete inner peace and contentment.
